We Tried the Best Pie in Detroit Sister Pie

Have you ever had this place set in your mind, this new place that you just HAD to go experience, and then you finally get there and it’s incredible, and inspiring and the more you learn the more you realize that in the grand scheme of things, it is bigger than you ever imagined? That is Sister Pie.

A wonderfully vibrant but quaint bakery located at the corners of Parker and Kercheval on the east side of Detroit, Michigan.

Over the holiday weekend we spent our time in Midtown, Detroit and knew we couldn’t leave without making it over to the West Village on the east side to try the nationally known, Sister Pie.

WHY WE HAD TO GO

Well I guess you could say it has a lot to do with us. This blog is all about providing a resourceful outlet to people looking for inspiring, local, environmentally kind, and overall high vibrating resources, places, or people and businesses. We want to create a community of like minded people who truly share our values.

Sister Pie holds a few things very dear to their hearts. Thats their community, our environment, and the ability to be able to stick around for a while. . Instantly, while reading their story we became inspired.

Woman owned, woman run, and all about bringing people together and shedding light on Michigans rich and diverse agricultural gems. With recognition from publications such as Bon Appetite, and The New York Times it was silly not to experience the hype for ourselves.

You can read about Sister Pie over on their About Page.

Instantly we were welcomed by smiling faces, quaint and quirky decor, and an overall homie, but modern, with a wanderlust like feel, Sister Pie was evidently different. All its own. It was just gorgeously bright and light and happy. The atmosphere was nothing less than lovely. The perfect bakery to warm your soul on a cold winters day in Michigan.

We left giddy, and walked down the snow sprinkled sidewalks Sunday morning with a bag of chocolate chip cookies, a gluten-free & vegan brownie, some kind of pastry that the husband picked but didn’t look to see what it was, and a beautiful Brandy Pecan Pie!

It was all insanely delicious! The best! We gorged on our pie for like a week! It was thick and made the way your grandma used to make it.  So of course now we are hooked. Since visiting we’ve learned even more about the awesome things happening on that little corner in Detroit. We are prideful to live in such an area and we were excited to find that Sister Pie offers a cookbook, online pie shop, classes, and a host of other things to engage the surrounding community. We will most certainly be back to get our fix.
